Ik kom in actie om meer diabetesonderzoek mogelijk te maken.
Dat doe ik door op 15 oktober 2023 de marathon van Amsterdam te lopen. Ik hoop voor elke kilometer 100 euro in te zamelen.
Mijn eigen ervaring met diabetes is dat mijn moeder dit op een bepaalde leeftijd kreeg (type 2) en wat mij als jongetje toen bij is gebleven dat ze dagelijks insuline moest toedienen. En ook dat ze opeens geen suiker meer in haar koffie deed. Sinds die tijd ben ik ook gestopt met suiker in mijn koffie en thee.
Voor mij is hardlopen een heerlijke uitlaatklep om te ontspannen en om gezond te blijven. Als ik op deze manier ook een steentje kan bijdragen aan diabetes onderzoek, dan doe ik dat graag.

Dat was er weer eentje. Half 4 je nest uit, een buschauffeur die een verkeerde route neemt, op 15km op stukje onverhard bijna onderuit glijden. Bij 25km wind tegen een flinke hagelbui op me bol en daarna wat stijf in de benen. Bij 30 weer wat hersteld en bij 35 kijken wat er nog in de tank zit. Dan bij 37.20 opeens het bordje 38 zien en dan weet je al, deze wordt tekort. Ondanks dat door tempo blijven lopen en finishen in 3:20 😊 Niet slecht voor een tussendoortje 😉

In het begin wat hoofdpijn en last vd maag. In het dorp de 2 rondjes ging het weer een stuk beter 😄 Super tevreden met mijn eindtijd van 5:56 en 11e in mijn categorie (M50).

Eerste stuk met groep mee van 150km route, na de pauze bij Verhage samen met René verder op de 100km route. Na de brug bij Hasselt vergeten horloge weer aan te zetten, zal 8-10km meer zijn geweest.
